On June 6, 2021, three generations of the Afzal family were killed in an Islamophobic terror attack in London. Madiha Salman, her husband Salman Afzaal, their daughter Yumna Afzaal, and Salman's mother, Talat Afzaal were killed. The youngest member of the family, nine-year old Fayez Afzaal, was the sole survivor of the attack.

Ontario should be a province in which Fayez Afzaal and generations of Muslim families can live without fear – regardless of the religion they practice, their clothes, or the colour of their skin.

Support The Our London Family Act, which addresses the calls to action directed at provincial governments in the NCCM’s recommendations to the National Summit on Islamophobia including:

  • Create a provincial hate crimes accountability unit
  • Dismantle white supremacist groups by preventing them from registering as societies, and prevent acts of intimidation
  • Restore the provincial Anti-Racism Directorate
  • Give Ontario schools new tools to help young people understand Islamophobia

Hate crimes and anti-Muslim hate crimes are on the rise, and words are not enough — no one should be scared to go for a walk while wearing a hijab, and no one should fear worshipping at a masjid. We must take action to stop Islamophobia, white supremacy, anti-Islam terrorism and hate crimes.

The Ontario NDP and the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) have partnered to create new legislation to combat Islamophobia. Add your name to call for action to combat white supremacy and to stop Islamophobic hate crimes:
